In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2018 here is a post with interesting films featuring MLK.


King (1978 miniseries)

                              

This 1978 television miniseries is based Martin Luther King Jr.'s life. It aired for three consecutive nights on NBC from February 12 to February 14, 1978. The miniseries earned nine Emmy Award nominations.  Find it for purchase HERE.

Selma, Lord, Selma (1999)


I grew up watching this 1999 film on Disney Channel. It follows two young girl Selma girls named Sheyann (played by the amazingly talented Jurnee Smollett) and Rachel (Stephanie Zandra Peyton). We watch as they become more active in the Civil Rights Movement after watching a speech by Martin Luther King Jr. Find it for purchase HERE.

In this film Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is played by Clifton Powell.


Boycott (2001)


Boycott is based on the book Daybreak of Freedom by Stewart Burns. It depicts the 1955-1956 Montgomery Bus Boycott and won a Peabody Award in 2001. Find it HERE and HERE.

Selma (2014)
