Write It! - 1st Pan-African Congress





Today is February 19, 2017 and on   February 19, 1919 the 1st Pan-African Congress was organized by W. E. B. Du Bois and Ida Gibbs Hunt whose husband US Consul William Henry Hunt was working at the American consulate in France at that time. The delegates wanted to change the way Europeans were governing Africa. With the eventual goal being African independence. There were 57 delegates representing 15 countries.
