Today is February 2, 2017 and on
January 2, 1898 Sadie Tanner Mossell was born. Born to an illustrious family in
Philadelphia  Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander
went on to lead a long life full of accomplishments. Including many firsts like
being the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. in economics in 1919
or being the first woman to receive a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania
Law School and the first African-American woman to practice law in Pennsylvania
in 1927.
