Write It! - NCNW Black Family Reunion Celebration





Today is February
12, 2017 and on September 12, 1986 The National Council of Negro Women sponsors
its first Black Family Reunion at the National Mall in Washington.

In 1986 the
National Council of Negro Women was alarmed by negative publicity about “the
vanishing black family,” and decided to create the Black Family Reunion
Celebration to honor “the enduring strengths and traditional values of the
African American Family.”
